Tuesday 14 June | Woodend Barn, Banchory | 7.30pm | £15 Tickets

Mark Thomas is one of the finest comedians/agent provocateurs of his generation, I’m sure you’re all aware of his work. At his very best when exposing the ridiculousness of authority figures and organisations in all their shapes and forms, this is a fantastic opportunity to see him do his thing in the lovely surroundings of the Woodend Barn in Banchory.

This show promises to be something a little different however; entitled “Extreme Rambling (Walking The Wall)” Thomas will tell the tale of his 2010 adventure which saw him decide to go “rambling” in the Middle East by walking the entire length of the Israeli Separation Barrier, crossing between both the Israeli and the Palestinian sides. We’re promised the story of 300 000 settlers, a 750 km wall, six arrests, one stoning, too much humuus and one simple question: Can you ever get away from it all with a good walk? Superb.

A quick heads up about this from our friends at The Belmont. Live comedy in a cinema. Nice. Here’s the blurb:

Rob Rouse: My Family… And the Dog that Scared Jesus

“Eye-wateringly hilarious” **** – The List

One of comedy’s most lively, loveable and dynamic performers, Rob Rouse (8 out of 10 Cats, The Friday Night Project) takes his trademark comedic storytelling to a career height in this critically acclaimed show.

He leads us on an irresistibly hilarious journey, not just through his life as a brand new father but more importantly as the beleaguered owner of the most spectacularly randy dog you’re EVER likely to hear about…

“Left the audience in a giggling slobbering heap” **** Edinburgh Festival Magazine

Tickets available here

To stand a chance of winning…

Name the films that these two quotes come from:

Wednesday 4 November | The Lemon Tree | 7.30pm | £14

Big night for comedy in town what with Eddie Izzard playing the AECC too (there are still a few tickets available I believe), however if you’re interested in a more intimate atmosphere then this is the one to go for. Aussie comedian Jim Jefferies recently had his own special on HBO, and has a reputation for being a wee bit controversial (see clip below). What’s doubly amusing/ironic round these parts of course is that he shares a name with the manager of Kilmarnock FC (and a man who never smiles, ever)…
