Comedy: Rob Rouse
March 30, 2010
Tuesday 20 April | The Belmont Picturehouse | 9pm | Cancelled
A quick heads up about this from our friends at The Belmont. Live comedy in a cinema. Nice. Here’s the blurb:
Rob Rouse: My Family… And the Dog that Scared Jesus
“Eye-wateringly hilarious” **** – The List
One of comedy’s most lively, loveable and dynamic performers, Rob Rouse (8 out of 10 Cats, The Friday Night Project) takes his trademark comedic storytelling to a career height in this critically acclaimed show.
He leads us on an irresistibly hilarious journey, not just through his life as a brand new father but more importantly as the beleaguered owner of the most spectacularly randy dog you’re EVER likely to hear about…
“Left the audience in a giggling slobbering heap” **** Edinburgh Festival Magazine
Comedy: Snafu CLAN Fundraiser
January 12, 2010
Tuesday 12 January | Snafu | 7.30pm | £5/£4
Short notice (it’s tonight!), but this is for such a great cause…
Snafu Comedy Club are holding a fundraiser for Aberdeen cancer charity CLAN with Glasgow-born Kier McAllister, Aussie Marcus Ryan and Aberdeen’s Andrew Learmonth all giving up their time and fees to put on a show. It’s also guaranteed to be over by 11pm for those who turn into pumpkins after a certain time on schoolnights…
Film/Competition: Bunny & The Bull
November 27, 2009
To mark today’s release of the new movie by Mighty Boosh director Paul King (trailer below), we’ve got a pair of tickets to the film and a rather natty Bunny & The Bull T-shirt to give away in association with The Belmont Picturehouse.
To stand a chance of winning…
Name the films that these two quotes come from:
“Put the bunny back in the box”
And
“That… is a really interesting painting.
Thank you. Yeah, that’s me, taking the bull by the horns. It’s how I handle business. It’s a metaphor.
I get it.
But that actually happened, though.”
…and email your answer to belmont@picturehouses.co.uk marked ‘Kiosque Competition’ before Thursday 3 December.
(The eventual winner will receive both the tickets and the T-shirt)
Good luck!

Comedy: Jim Jefferies
November 3, 2009
Wednesday 4 November | The Lemon Tree | 7.30pm | £14
Big night for comedy in town what with Eddie Izzard playing the AECC too (there are still a few tickets available I believe), however if you’re interested in a more intimate atmosphere then this is the one to go for. Aussie comedian Jim Jefferies recently had his own special on HBO, and has a reputation for being a wee bit controversial (see clip below). What’s doubly amusing/ironic round these parts of course is that he shares a name with the manager of Kilmarnock FC (and a man who never smiles, ever)…
Comedy: Milton Jones
October 3, 2009
Wednesday 7 October | The Lemon Tree | 7.30pm | £12
Branded the ‘King of the surreal one-liners’ by The Times, veteran of BBC Radio 4, warm-up man for ‘Mock the Week’ (he was the last-minute stand in for Frankie Boyle recently) and former Perrier Award-winner Milton Jones brings his new show to The Lemon Tree. Here’s a wee taste of what to expect:

Comedy: Ennio Marchetto
September 24, 2009
Tuesday 29 September | Music Hall | 8pm | £16
This is a bit different to yer usual comedy night. Italian performer Ennio Marchetto races through 50-odd costume changes during his show…and they’re all made of paper. I’ll just let the video do the talking shall I?
