    Friday 31 August | The Tunnels | 7.30pm | £10/£8adv  Tickets

Another stellar show from the good folks at Interesting Music Promotions, read on to find out how to get in for no money…

If you caught The Unwinding Hours the last time they played The Tunnels, chances are you’ve already got your ticket for this.  Hell of a gig.  They’re now back with ‘Afterlives‘, an LP which (on first few listens anyway) laughs in the face of  ’difficult second album.’  With a slightly different vibe to their excellent eponymous debut, it’s simultaneously uplifting, downbeat, quiet, loud, stripped-down, guitar-laden, electronic and, well, I’ve seen the word ‘majestic’ being thrown around in some reviews, and that just about covers it.

For the uninitiated, The Unwinding Hours are Iain Cook and Craig B, formerly of Aereogramme, a band who people miss quite a bit, here’s a track from the album I’ve been banging on about above:

Support comes from Olympic Swimmers, a Glasgow band whose folky/shoegazey pop has been turning heads of late (as well as having the most topical name ever a couple of weeks ago), and returning young local singer-songwriter Foxhunting, who’s back from a year in Australia. Yay.

Please note that  One-Up’s allocation has sold out, so it’s tickets from the link at the top of the page or on the door only from now on, or try this:

    Right,

To win a pair of tickets to the show, simply email your name to interestingmusic@hotmail.co.uk under the subject ‘Unwinding Hours Comp‘ before 12 noon on Wednesday 29 August, the winner will then be picked at random.

    Good luck!
