    Friday 17 August | Snafu | £8/£5adv  Tickets

New Oslo-based label Fine Grains come to Snafu on Friday, armed with an admirable blueprint to release genre-spanning records from around the world.  There’s an Aberdeen connection too, as head honcho Alexander Horne hails from this parish, hence the inclusion of some familiar names in a night which promises to be as eclectic as the label’s plans…

First up though is Moxie; alongside her bi-weekly show on East London’s NTS Radio, she also runs respected clubnight Deviation with Radio 1′s Benji B and was named one of Time Out’s “DJ tips for the top in 2012.”  Despite the kiss-of-death such accolades usually bring, she seems to be doing pretty well. Here’s a mix she did for The Daily Street which gives you a flavour of her blend of house, techno, broken beat and more:

There’s also a welcome first-hometown-gig-since-2010 from Offshore; AKA Ewen Robertson, his signature brand of experimental hip-hop and bass will finally be properly showcased through an imminent album on Big Dada, after which you’ll be hearing about him quite a bit I reckon.

Add in ¥oin of equally big-thinking local label Tuff Wax, Ayr’s Studio Cee, Mr Horne himself in his Uraki Riddim guise and visuals from MWX Florence To, and things are looking very, um, fine indeed…
