Blah blah blah, here we go, blah blah blah, The Kiosque writing about weird wee indie shows again, blah blah blah, it’s always the same, blah blah blah, why don’t you write about my painfully outdated funk-metal fusion band, blah blah blah, actually, we’re not just a band, we’re a movement, blah blah blah, your website is pish anyway…
*sigh*
Had quite a few of those emails lately, as I do every f**cking week, so, to redress the balance, here’s a wee indie show : )
Jo Schornikow is from Australia, but bases herself in New York. She’s in a two-piece band called The Shivers who had a record out on Fife’s Fence Records last year, which was/is pretty damn good. For my money though, her solo stuff may be even better; breathy, swirly, swoonsome and folk-tinged. Check it out:
Joining her is Scott Rudd, who also lives in NYC, and has a nice line in slightly shambolic, lo-fi pop music by the sound of things. I’ve seen Daniel Johnston mentioned a few times while reading up on him, and there’s definitely a wee bit of that in there, which is more than fine by me:
Support comes from local singer-songwriter CS Buchan (whose between-song chat is worth the entrance fee alone) and indie-folk outfit The Fool’s Reel.
Blah blah blah, hi, we’re one of Aberdeenshire’s top wedding/function/covers bands, blah blah blah, you should write about us, blah blah blah, varied selection of songs from Jimmy Shand to AC/DC, blah blah blah.
*sigh*
