    Friday 8 June | The Blue Lamp | 8pm | £12/£10adv (From One-Up/Blue Lamp)

Hillfolk Noir are from Boise, Idaho and are the self-proclaimed founders of Junkerdash, a “peculiar take on traditional acoustic mountain music, filtered through a half-century of folk, country and rock ‘n’ roll and fed by an affinity for medicine show culture and Depression-era string-band blues.”  Cool.

They certainly look and sound like an interesting band; check out the song below for proof (it’s about zombies).   They’ve also gained a fan in BBC Radio 2′s “Whispering” Bob Harris who described them as “absolutely fascinating”, presumably in the slightly creepy, yet well-informed way that is his wont.  Support on the night comes from local singer-songwriter Oliver Richard.
